What it’s like

Tenpin bowling and a 38-player Laser Quest arena under one roof, with games priced by the round rather than the hour.

Bowling here is straightforward: shoe hire's included, and you pay by the game rather than the session, so a quick single game with a toddler who'll lose interest fast costs the same £6 as it does for an adult. Three games works out at £8.50 if you're settling in for the afternoon, and junior pricing (under 16) matches the adult rate game for game, which is refreshingly simple compared to most bowling alleys' age-banded menus.

The bigger draw for anyone over six is Laser Quest, run in a 38-player multi-level arena that the site plays up as a "futuristic space adventure". Games are short and sharp: 20 minutes total, with a 5-minute safety talk eating into that before you get your 15 minutes of actual shooting. They run like clockwork every 20 minutes on the hour, at 20 past and 20 to, which is handy for planning but means turning up 10 minutes late could cost you most of a game. There's a minimum height of 1.1 metres alongside the age-6 rule, and the safety rules inside the arena (no running, no climbing, no physical contact) are strictly enforced, so it's worth having a word with an excitable seven-year-old beforehand.

Arcade games fill the gaps between bowling frames and laser sessions, useful if you've got a mixed-age group where not everyone wants to do both activities at once. Parties are the other big use of the building: a Big Bowling Bash at £16, a Laser Quest Party at £16, or the Ultimate Mega Party at £20 if you want both activities covered in one booking. Opening hours stretch late most evenings, though Wednesdays and weekends open earliest at 10am, which suits an outing that starts before lunch.

Worth flagging if anyone in your group has heart problems, epilepsy or is pregnant: Laser Quest isn't recommended given the flashing lights and physical exertion involved. There's no viewing area either, so once your group's in the arena, you're waiting outside rather than watching through a window.
