What it’s like

A gig and club venue for over-16s, strictly over-18s on club nights, with a no-fancy-dress door policy.

This one's not for the family day out list. Live music events are strictly over 16, and if you've got a 16 or 17 year old with you they need one responsible adult with them on a one-to-one basis. Club nights are over 18 only, full stop, and they reserve the right of admission on both.

If you do end up here with an older teenager in tow, a few things are worth knowing before you queue up. It's cashless, card only, so don't bother digging round for change. The cloakroom will take coats and bags off your hands for £3.50 and £4 respectively, which adds up if there's a few of you. Open-toed shoes aren't allowed in, and turning up in business attire or fancy dress (unless it's a themed night) risks being turned away at the door, which feels like a strange rule to fall foul of on a night out.

Tickets are sold online and usually stop at 5pm on the day, with door sales only if a show hasn't sold out. There isn't much shelter for queueing outside, so the site's own advice is to turn up after doors open rather than stand around early. Parking's on the street nearby on Curtain Road or Scrutton Street, or there's a car park a few minutes' walk away that only runs until 7pm on weekdays.

Need to know

Parking
Street parking on Curtain Road or Scrutton Street (5 mins walk), or car park next to 55 Holywell Lane (6am-7pm Mon-Fri)
  • Cloakroom is £3.50 for clothes and £4 for bags, so factor that in if you're checking coats
  • There's not much cover for queueing outside, best to arrive once doors are open
  • Nearby car park only runs until 7pm on weekdays, so it won't help for an evening gig
  • Tickets can't be refunded or exchanged unless the event's cancelled or changed

Plan your visit

Is there an age limit?

Live music nights are over 16s only, and any 16 or 17 year old needs a responsible adult with them one-to-one. Club nights are strictly over 18.

Can we just turn up and buy tickets on the door?

Only if the show hasn't sold out, and only after doors open. There's no phone box office, so tickets are sold online in advance with sales usually cutting off at 5pm on the day.

Is there a dress code?

No business attire or fancy dress unless it's a themed night, and no open-toed shoes. They can and will refuse entry over it.

Can we pay with cash?

It's card only throughout the venue, so leave the cash at home and bring a card instead.
