What it’s like

Sports-based holiday camps for school-age kids, running half or full days across the holidays with pre-booking essential.

Drop your child off with a packed bag and a filled water bottle, and they're handed over to Time4Sport staff for a day of sport-based activity while you get on with your own list. There's no hanging about at the gate either, parents aren't permitted beyond the sign-in point for safeguarding reasons, so it's a proper drop-off, not a stay-and-play.

Camps run in half days (8.30am to 12.30pm) or full days (8.30am to 4pm, with a late pickup option to 5.30pm), which gives you some flexibility around work or other plans. It's aimed at 4 to 13 year olds, though at Trentham Gardens specifically they only take children from 6 upwards, so that one's worth knowing if you've got a younger child and had your heart set on that venue. Venues change holiday to holiday, and the HAF camps move around Staffordshire too.

Booking is essential and they mean it, camps sell out regularly and there's no turning up on spec. Book more than one sibling together and you get 10% off each additional child, which softens the cost a little if you're sorting the whole school-holiday childcare puzzle. Pack sensibly: proper sporting kit rather than crocs, no jewellery, hair tied back, sun cream already applied, and absolutely no nuts in the lunchbox. Turn up late too often and you risk a £20 fine, so the 5-minutes-early drop-off isn't just a suggestion.
