What it’s like

A real flight in an open cockpit biplane, with a go at the controls and a pilot's uniform for the photos.

This one's not soft play or a farm trail. You turn up, get kitted out in a pilot's uniform for the photos, then climb into the open cockpit of a restored de Havilland Tiger Moth for a proper flight, thirty minutes to an hour depending on what you've booked. From what they list, you get instruction and a go at the controls yourself, which is the bit that'll actually stick in a kid's memory long after the day's over.

It only runs April to September, weekends only, and it's weather dependent, so a grey forecast could mean a reshuffled day. There's no age range given, so it's worth thinking about whether your child is old enough to sit still and follow instruction in an open cockpit rather than assuming it's a toddler activity. Wheelchair users can take part in flights too, which is a nice detail that a lot of "experience" days don't manage.

There's a café on site for afterwards, useful given you'll want to sit down and relive it over a cup of tea. The one real catch right now is that they're not taking new bookings, so this is one to have on the radar rather than plan around this weekend.
