What it’s like
Weekly musical theatre classes for ages 4 to 18, plus LAMDA exams and 1:1 singing lessons, with a free trial lesson first.
This is term-time training rather than a one-off show. Weekly musical theatre sessions cover singing, acting and movement, so your child builds the same skills week after week instead of learning a routine and stopping. There's a Musical Theatre Show Group for the ones who want to perform, and LAMDA exams from age 4 up to 18 if exams give them something to aim at.
The 1:1 singing lessons start at 7, which is the sensible point to add them, since a six-year-old won't get much from half an hour of solo technique. They also run workshops with West End stars, and those are the sessions I'd save for a child who's already hooked rather than a first-timer.
For adults there's a non-audition pop choir, which is the rare version of this where nobody has to prove anything to join. Rehearsals run on Thursdays in term time at Saint John's United Reformed Church in Northwood.
Classes are in Northwood in Middlesex and it's all indoors, so the weather doesn't come into it. Booking goes through the club rather than a ticketing site, and there's a free trial lesson before you commit, which takes the sting out of signing up for a term you're not sure about.
