What it’s like

Paint a plate, build with clay or make your own memory bear, then have scones in the café while it dries.

You pick a piece, pick your colours, and get stuck in. Pottery painting starts at £4 a piece, which is about as low-stakes as a craft afternoon gets, and there's more if you want it: hand-building with clay, a go on the wheel, or the memory bear workshop at £25 for something a bit more of an occasion. The clay master maker classes are there too if plain painting feels a bit tame.

There's no rush built in from what they say, and the day runs 10am to 5.30pm, so a wet Tuesday or a birthday treat both work. Walk-ins are welcome, though they'd rather you booked ahead if you can, especially if you fancy a specific slot or a party.

Birthday parties get a dedicated host, proper invitations, and extras like face painting, so it's a step up from just handing round paint pots. The café does freshly baked scones and milkshakes, which is a decent enough reason to linger once the painting's done and you're waiting for it to fire.

It's open every day of the year bar Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
