What it’s like

A hands-on farm day of pigs, goats and alpacas, plus mini golf, a play barn and outdoor slides to wear the kids out.

You come here for the animals first: pigs, goats, alpacas and sheep to meet, with Farmer Fridays giving you a proper go at feeding them. After that there's a 9-hole mini golf course, a covered Play Barn for when the ground's soggy, and outdoor slides and swings for the bit that actually tires them out. Piggy Tale Lane, an imaginary play village, is worth saving for last since it's the sort of thing they'll want to linger in rather than rush through.

Pricing shifts depending on when you go, and it's worth knowing before you book. Term time weekdays are the cheaper option at £7.50 for adults and under-5s, £15 for over-5s. Turn up on a weekend or in the school holidays and it jumps to £15 for children and £12 for adults on the day, though booking online knocks a bit off both. Term time hours are 10am to 3pm, stretching to 4pm at weekends and holidays, and the farm is closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays during term time, so check which day you're planning for.

Tickets can sell out on weekends and school holidays, so booking ahead matters more than you might expect at a farm park. They're also non-refundable, though you can transfer a booking if you give at least 12 hours' notice, which softens the blow if plans change. The Farmhouse Kitchen café does homemade food daily and there's an afternoon tea if you fancy making a longer visit of it, though be aware the kitchen handles nuts and they can't guarantee anything is nut-free.

Birthday parties run from £17 a child with a two-hour host, indoor and outdoor play, animal feeding and party food thrown in, and there are Nerf and teen party options too if farm animals aren't quite the vibe. School visits are also on offer at £11 a child. Come the colder months there's a half-term Pumpkin Festival, a fireworks event in early November, and Santa visits through December alongside a Christmas-themed afternoon tea, though outdoor play isn't really on the cards once winter properly sets in.
