What it’s like
A calm, Montessori-inspired play space in a Delph mill, best suited to babies and under-fives.
This one's built for the smaller end of soft play. The site describes it as Montessori-inspired rather than the usual foam-and-slides setup, and the age guide backs that up, newborn to five is who they say will get the most out of it. Older children up to eight can come along and sit with the adults, so it works if you've got a mixed-age group, but it's not where a seven-year-old goes to properly stretch their legs.
Booking is required, not just recommended, and they're upfront that walk-ups might get turned away if a session's full. At £10 a child that's not pocket change for what's essentially a couple of hours in a mill room, though babies under three months go free if you've got one in tow. Only food and drink bought from The Nook can be eaten on site, which rules out bringing your own snacks unless you've cleared it with them first.
Worth knowing before you turn up: there are several steps at the entrance. Parking is easy enough, plenty on-street right outside the Mill and a car park two minutes away in Delph village if that's full. There's a sheltered outdoor pram store too, handy if you've walked in with the buggy.
If you're after a birthday party, they do two-hour exclusive hire from £250, which includes a party platter and refillable drinks for the kids. That's a decent chunk of money but you do get the whole space to yourselves rather than sharing with other families.
