What it’s like

A three-storey play frame for juniors plus a separate baby and toddler area, with term-time weekdays priced to let you go unlimited.

The big draw is the three-storey frame, aimed at the under-10s, so a seven-year-old can properly disappear up there while you find a table. Babies and toddlers get their own separate area away from the bigger kids, which matters if you've got a one-year-old who'd otherwise get flattened by a charging six-year-old.

Timing is where this place actually rewards a bit of planning. Turn up on a term-time weekday and £5 gets you unlimited play, no clock watching, no herding everyone out after two hours. Go at a weekend or in the holidays and it's £7 for a two-hour slot instead, and the site is upfront that any discounts and deals don't apply then either, so the weekday rate is the one to chase if your week allows it.

There's an on-site café doing coffee, paninis, salads and hot meals, plus Happy Bags and Snack Bags for the kids, or you can go for the Play & Eat combo, which bundles a meal with your play session for £8 in term time or £10 at weekends and holidays. No need to book ahead for a normal visit, you just turn up. There's a large car park on site, and if you're coming without a car, the 58 and 59 buses stop a few seconds' walk away.

Worth flagging for anyone with older kids in tow: 12 to 17 year olds aren't allowed on the play equipment, so this one's really pitched at the under-11s. If it's a birthday you're after, parties run for two hours with unlimited juice, food, cakes and biscuits from £10 a child, or you can hire the place privately from £300 for up to 20 children.
