The Dance Studio Leeds
WHERE
Leeds
What it’s like
Themed dance party workshops, from Barbie Disco to line dancing, plus birthday parties with a proper party room.
This is a studio built for parties that involve actual dancing rather than just cake and a bouncy castle. The themes do a lot of the work: Beyoncé-themed sessions, a Bridgerton Ball, Barbie Disco, TikTok Dance, Dancehall, Afro Fusion, Charleston, Jump and Jive, line dancing. Pick one and the whole room commits to it for an hour and a half.
Parties run as 1.5 hour dance lessons at around £25 a head, with a minimum of 8 participants, so this suits a proper group booking rather than a small gathering. The nice touch is that the birthday child goes free, same for a hen or stag-to-be if you're booking one of those instead. You can hold it at the studio itself or, if you'd rather, at your own pre-booked venue elsewhere in Yorkshire.
Getting there needs a bit of planning. Parking in the complex itself is tight, just three bays, and you need to collect a permit from reception before you can use one. There's free on-street parking nearby on Mabgate and Cherry Row for four hours, and the complex car park opens up free after 5:30pm and all weekend, which is handy if your session lands on a Saturday. It's also a 20-25 minute walk from Leeds train station if you're coming in by train.
Access is the one thing to flag properly. There's a chair lift from Macaulay Street into the main building, but a wheelchair still needs folding and carrying up several stairs, with staff on hand to help. That rules out electric wheelchairs for most of the building, though Studio 6 on the ground floor has ramp access if that's where your session is booked.

Plan your visit
How much does a party cost?
Around £25 per person for a 1.5 hour dance lesson, with a minimum of 8 people booking in. The birthday child goes free, and so does a hen or stag-to-be if that's what you're celebrating.
Do we need to book in advance?
There's no online booking link, so you'd need to get in touch directly to arrange a session and confirm numbers, given the minimum of 8 participants.
What dance styles can we choose from?
Themed workshops include Beyonce-themed, Bridgerton Ball, Barbie Disco, TikTok Dance, Dancehall, Afro Fusion, Charleston, Jump and Jive, and line dancing.
Is there parking on site?
Only three bays in the complex, and you need a permit from reception to use them. Free on-street parking on Mabgate and Cherry Row covers four hours, and the complex car park is free after 5:30pm and all day at weekends.
Is it wheelchair accessible?
There's a chair lift from Macaulay Street, but wheelchairs have to be folded and carried up stairs by staff, so electric wheelchairs won't get through easily. Studio 6 on the ground floor has ramp access instead.
Can we hold the party somewhere other than the studio?
Yes, they can bring the session to a venue of your own in Yorkshire, as long as it's pre-booked.
