What it’s like

A blues bar and restaurant in Camden where kids can only join you for a sit-down meal, not the gig side.

This one's really a restaurant-with-a-catch for families. The bar, club and stage areas are strictly over-18s, so if you're picturing the kids bopping along to live blues, that's not on the cards here. What you can do is bring them into the restaurant for a meal, with a responsible adult, on Sundays through Thursdays, or up until 6pm on Fridays and Saturdays.

That cut-off time is worth building your visit around. A relaxed Tuesday lunch works fine, but turn up on a Saturday evening hoping for dinner with the kids and you'll be turned away once 6pm hits and the venue tips over into its evening, adults-only mode. It's a fair rule for a live music venue, but a bit of a faff if you haven't clocked it in advance.

The place is wheelchair accessible, though there's a genuine snag right now: the disabled lift to the first floor isn't working, and there's no accessible toilet on the ground floor either. If that affects your visit, it's the sort of thing you'd want to know before you set off rather than find out on arrival.

Opening hours stretch late, especially Friday and Saturday when it runs past midnight into the small hours, but none of that lateness is relevant to a family visit since the daytime restaurant window is your only real option with children in tow.

Wheelchair accessible but no accessible toilet on ground floor
  • The 6pm Friday and Saturday cut-off for under-18s is easy to miss, plan a daytime visit instead
  • Bar, club and stage areas are off-limits to under-18s entirely, whatever time you go
  • The first-floor lift is out of order at the moment, so factor that in if you need step-free access upstairs
  • If anyone in your group looks under 25, they'll be asked for ID such as a passport or driving licence

Plan your visit

Can kids come to The Blues Kitchen Camden?

Only into the restaurant, and only with a responsible adult. It's Sundays to Thursdays any time, or Fridays and Saturdays up until 6pm.

Can we watch the live music with kids?

No, under-18s aren't allowed in the bar, club or stage side areas at all. That side of the venue is adults only.

Is it wheelchair accessible?

The venue itself is accessible, but there's no accessible toilet on the ground floor, and the lift up to the first floor is currently out of order.

What are the opening hours?

It opens from 11am or 12pm most days depending on the day, running late into the evening, with Friday and Saturday going through to the small hours. For a family visit, stick to the daytime restaurant slots.
