What it’s like

A community pub with a garden, pool and darts, plus a Thursday session where families eat for free.

This is a proper community pub rather than a soft play or an attraction, which makes it a nice change of pace if you want the kids somewhere relaxed while you sit with a drink. There's a garden for them to spread out in, plus pool and darts if you've got a child old enough to hold a cue without putting someone's eye out.

The one to plan around is Family Fun Thursday. It's listed as a proper event, not just "kids welcome", and the families who come get a free meal, which is the kind of offer that makes a Thursday evening actually worth leaving the house for.

Hours are a bit of a puzzle if you're not paying attention. It's open from 4pm on Mondays to Thursdays, from midday on Fridays, shut all day Saturday, and open again from midday to 7pm on Sundays. Sunday afternoon is probably your best bet if you want a calmer visit with younger children, since the pub's open all through the day rather than just the evening.

There's indoor seating and food on site, so a wet afternoon isn't a write-off. It reads as a place that's built more around the local community than a big day out, so keep your expectations in that direction and it should suit.
