What it’s like

A round of mini golf on the seafront followed by a full English at the café next to it.

The course is the main event here, a mini golf round you can play any time from 8am until dusk, which makes it handy whether you fancy a game before the beach gets busy or a last one as the sun's going down. There's no booking to sort out beforehand, you just turn up and play.

Once the putters are back on the rack, the café's right there for a proper sit-down. It does a traditional English breakfast menu with indoor seating, so it's not just a snack stand you eat standing up at. The café runs 9am to 3:30pm, a bit shorter than the golf, so if you're planning a late-afternoon round don't count on food afterwards.

Dogs are welcome in the café too, as long as they're well behaved, which is a nice touch if your day out involves the whole household including the one on four legs. There's a sibling spot, Mac's Café, also open if this one's busy or you fancy a change of scene.

It's a straightforward set-up: golf, then breakfast, no faff about booking a slot. That simplicity is probably the point on a seafront where everything else wants you to queue.
