What it’s like
A beach terrace café on the Brighton seafront with sea views, a kids menu, and a firm 9pm curfew for under 18s.
This is a beach terrace spot right on the Brighton coastline, the sort of place you'd sit with a coffee and let the kids watch the waves while you actually finish a hot drink for once. Most of the seating is outside on the terrace, so you're at the mercy of the weather, there's some inside seating but it's subject to availability and not something you can bank on. Highchairs and a kids menu are on offer.
The catch, and it's a proper one, is that under 18s have to leave by 9pm. Given the venue is open until 2am on Fridays and Saturdays with live music and DJs in the warmer months, this clearly shifts into a different kind of evening once the kids have gone home, so plan your visit for daytime or early evening if you're bringing children. The kitchen runs breakfast and all-day menus, closing at 9pm most days and a bit earlier on Sunday, which lines up with that under-18 cutoff.
It's a cashless venue, so leave the coins at home, and they won't let you bring in outside food, anything found on you gets held at the entrance, which feels a bit strict for a family café but is worth knowing before you pack a picnic bag out of habit. Pushchairs are welcome and they suggest booking ahead so you get the table space you need. The Beach Terrace is raised with small steps but there's a ramp available on request, and the inside areas are wheelchair accessible too.
If you're thinking of a party, there's no hire fee and they can do anything from a small group of 8 up to 500 guests, though a minimum spend may apply once you're in a bookable area.

Plan your visit
Is it OK to bring young kids here?
Yes, children are welcome with supervision and there are highchairs and a kids menu. They do need to leave by 9pm though, so it suits a daytime visit better than an evening one.
Do we need to book a table?
Booking in advance is advised, especially if you're bringing a pushchair and want to be sure of table space.
What happens if it rains?
There's some inside seating but it depends on availability since most of the seating is on the outdoor terrace. You can call to reschedule your booking if the weather's against you.
Can we bring our own snacks or a packed lunch?
Outside food isn't allowed and anything found on you will be held at the entrance.
Do you take cash?
Cashless only, so bring a card.
Is it wheelchair and pushchair friendly?
Pushchairs are welcome throughout. The Beach Terrace and inside areas are wheelchair accessible, and although the terrace is raised with small steps, a ramp is available on request.
Can we book it for a birthday party?
There's no hire fee and areas can be booked for anywhere from 8 to 500 guests, though a minimum spend may apply.
