What it’s like

Bottle-feed calves and lambs, groom rabbits and bounce on the undercover pillow, open Friday to Monday only.

This is a proper hands-on farm visit, not a look-and-walk-past one. Kids feed the animals, bottle-feed calves and lambs, groom the rabbits and get among piglets and donkeys. There's an undercover bouncing pillow and outdoor play areas too, so if the animal bit runs its course there's still somewhere to bounce off the drizzle.

The Play Barn is worth knowing about separately: it's £3 on top and covers toddlers right up to age 10, which is a wider bracket than most soft play sets. It's the bit to save for the end of the visit if you've got a mix of little and not-so-little ones, since the main farm side (bottle-feeding, grooming) suits the younger kids more directly.

It's only open Friday to Monday, 10am to 4pm, so a Tuesday whim won't work here. The café runs a bit later, to 5pm, which is handy if you want to sit down with a coffee after the animals have had enough of you. Entry is £11 for an adult and child together, under 2s go in free, and parking's free on site, which softens the blow of paying at all for a farm visit.

In season there's a tractor ride out to the Pumpkin Patch, which is the kind of extra that turns fifteen minutes with the rabbits into a half day. Birthday parties run Saturday and Sunday afternoons from 4:15 to 6pm, with exclusive use of the Play Barn and food included from £12.95 a child, plus optional party bags for £3 if you want the full experience.

Plan your visit

How much does it cost?

£11 gets an adult and a child into the Open Farm, and under 2s are free. The Play Barn is a separate £3 for a child.

What days is it open?

Friday to Monday, 10am to 4pm for the farm. The café stays open an hour later, until 5pm.

Is it suitable for a toddler?

Yes, under 2s go in free and the animal feeding and grooming are pitched at younger kids. The Play Barn covers ages right up to 10, so it works for older siblings too.

Do we need to book?

There's no booking mentioned, so you'd turn up within the opening hours.

Is there parking?

Free parking on site.

What food is there?

There's a café on site open until 5pm, later than the farm itself closes.

Can you do birthday parties there?

Parties run Saturday and Sunday afternoons, 4:15 to 6pm, with exclusive use of the Play Barn, animal encounters and food included from £12.95 a child. Party bags are an optional £3 extra.

What can the kids actually do with the animals?

Bottle-feed calves and lambs, groom the rabbits and get close to piglets and donkeys.

Is there anything seasonal worth planning around?

There's a tractor ride out to the Pumpkin Patch, though that's seasonal rather than year round.
