What it’s like

Farm days built around watching real farm work from indoor viewing platforms, plus an indoor play barn and reptile house for wet days.

The pull here is watching actual farm work happen, not just a static petting pen. You get undercover barns with viewing platforms so you can see farming activities going on, then there's a reptile house and small mammal house to wander round when you need a change of pace. The Hungry Llama indoor play area has slides and an upstairs role-play village, which is handy given this is an outdoor site and Yorkshire weather does what it likes.

Booking online in advance is not optional here, even if you have a voucher or a Max Card, so don't plan on turning up on spec. Prices depend on when you arrive, from £5 a person, and jump at weekends and holidays, £8.95 on weekdays against £13.95 at the busier times. If you forget to book you can sometimes buy on the day from the main office, but it costs £2 extra a head and there is no guarantee of space once everyone with a ticket has been let in.

Food-wise there's The White Bull, The Lucky Pup and The Hungry Llama café, all open from around 9am, plus the farm shop if you want to take something home. Parking is cheap rather than free, up to an hour is free for farm shop customers, two hours is £1 and a full day is £3, with blue badge parking free. The site is tarmacked throughout with step-free access everywhere except the roundhouse gantry, so buggies and wheelchairs aren't an afterthought, though the terrain does have some slopes given it's a working rural farm.

Last admission is 5.15pm and the farm itself runs 10am to 6pm, open every day except Christmas Day and Boxing Day. If you're coming a lot, the ten-visit pass for £99.95 works out sensible for a family that treats this as a regular outing rather than a one-off.
