Stretford Public Hall
WHERE
Manchester
What it’s like
Drama and choir sessions for kids aged 4 to 16, plus a parent-and-under-5s group with toys and LGBT+ stories.
This is a community hall with a proper programme of things for kids to actually do, not just watch. Drama and choir sessions run for the 4 to 16 age group, so you've got both the shy seven-year-old who fancies singing and the young teenager who wants to properly perform something. There's also a Proud 2 b Parents session for under-5s, with toys out and LGBT+ stories read aloud, which is a nice thing to find on a local hall's timetable rather than tucked away somewhere niche.
It's step-free throughout via the side entrance on Dorset Street, with a lift covering all the public floors and accessible toilets on both the ground and first floor. A free carer ticket is available too. One thing to flag: there's no hearing loop in the hall, which is a genuine gap if that's something you rely on.
Parking is on-site, 40 spaces plus 3 disabled bays, but you can only get into the car park from Chester Road, so don't follow satnav round to Dorset Street expecting an entrance there; that street's one-way and won't get you in. If the car park's full, Stretford Mall does 3 hours free and it's only a 5 to 10 minute walk. There's a café on site too, useful if you're waiting through a session rather than dropping off and running.
