Stena Line Belfast Terminal
WHERE
Belfast
What it’s like
The terminal you check in at for a Stena Line ferry crossing from Belfast to Liverpool or Birkenhead, not somewhere to visit on its own.
This is the building you pass through if you've got a ferry booked from Belfast to Liverpool or Birkenhead, not a destination in its own right. It only opens around sailing times, early morning from 7.30 to 10.30 and evening from 7.30 to 10.30pm, so there's no dropping in for a look round or a wander.
If your crossing falls in one of those windows, the practical bits are covered. There's a café and wifi to fill the wait once you're checked in, plus toilets and baby changing, so a delay or an early arrival with a buggy in tow isn't a disaster. It's not somewhere to plan an outing around, but it does the job of a wait-with-kids space reasonably well if you're already booked on.
Getting there without a car is doable too. Translink's Metro Service 96 runs from Upper Queen Street near Belfast City Hall to West Bank Road, about 22 minutes, which saves you worrying about the short-term car park. That car park is genuinely tight on space and they're upfront that you park at your own risk, so if you can get dropped off or take the bus instead, it's one less thing to think about.
Anyone travelling with a wheelchair or needing mobility support can get help boarding and moving through the terminal, but you need to give at least 48 hours' notice. The same notice period applies if you're bringing an assistance dog. Neither of those is a same-day arrangement.

Plan your visit
Is this somewhere to visit without a ferry booked?
No, it only opens around sailing times, so you need a crossing booked to use the terminal at all.

Two windows tied to sailings, early morning 7.30 to 10.30am and evening 7.30 to 10.30pm.
Is there parking?
A short-term car park at the terminal, but spaces are limited and it's at your own risk. There's also parking about a mile away at the Cairnryan terminal if it's full.
Can we get help if someone in the family uses a wheelchair?
Staff can help with boarding and mobility aids, but you need to arrange it at least 48 hours before you travel.

There's a café at the terminal, and staff can talk you through allergen information if anyone in your group has food allergies.
