What it’s like

An outdoor container-built street food and bar site with live music, DJs, and a few kids' events like Techno Tots before the evening crowd takes over.

It's an open-air spot built from shipping containers, with street food units, bars, and a stage for live music and DJs most days. Entry's free to wander round, and there's a coffee kitchen open from 8am if you fancy a wander in before the music starts. Kids are welcome earlier in the day, and there are ticketed family bits like the Techno Tots Halloween Special and a kids' Halloween party, both £3.

The catch is the clock. Children can only stay until 7pm Sunday to Thursday and 6pm on Fridays and Saturdays, with everyone out an hour after that. So this works best as a daytime or early-evening outing rather than a proper night out with the family. Teenagers need an adult who's at least 25 with them too, which is one of those rules that's a bit of a faff if you're not expecting it.

You won't get far bringing a packed lunch. Outside food and drink isn't allowed on site and they will confiscate it, so you're relying on the street food vendors and bars for anything to eat or drink. There's no public parking on site, though city centre car parks are a five-minute walk away, and it's all outdoors so a wet day will change the mood of the visit even if it doesn't stop it.

There's a SIDESHOW gaming area too, though dogs aren't allowed in there even though they're welcome in the main site until 9pm. Baby changing and accessible toilets are on every floor, and there's a carer ticket scheme if you need it. Card only across the site, so leave the cash at home.

Plan your visit

How much does it cost to get in?

General entry is free. The Halloween family events, like Techno Tots and the kids' party, are £3 each.

Do we need to book ahead?

They're not taking table bookings at the moment, so you can just turn up.

What time do kids need to leave by?

Sunday to Thursday it's last entry 7pm and out by 8pm. Friday and Saturday it's 6pm entry, out by 7pm.

Can we bring our own food or drinks?

No, only food and drink bought on site can be consumed there. Anything you bring in gets confiscated.

Is there parking nearby?

No public parking on site, but city centre car parks are about five minutes' walk away.

Are dogs allowed?

In the main outdoor area until 9pm every day, but not inside the SIDESHOW gaming area.

Is it accessible for wheelchairs and buggies?

There are accessible toilets and baby changing on every floor, plus a carer ticket scheme that gives one free carer ticket. There's no adult changing facility though.

What if the weather's bad?

It's an outdoor site, so rain will affect how much time you'd want to spend there.
