What it’s like

Free supervised sessions for 8 to 16 year olds, with Friday teen evenings, Saturday afternoons and school holiday weekdays on offer.

This one's aimed squarely at older kids and teenagers rather than the swings-and-slide crowd. It's a free adventure playground for 8 to 16 year olds, running as sessions rather than an all-day drop-in, so you're working around a timetable instead of just turning up whenever.

Fridays are a dedicated teen session, 4:30pm to 7:30pm, which is a decent chunk of after-school time for the older end of the age range to have somewhere that's theirs. Saturdays are shorter and more open, 2pm to 5pm, and during school holidays it runs weekday afternoons, 1pm to 5pm. Free entry is a proper plus when you're filling a school holiday week and everything else wants paying for.

The catch is that booking is required, so this isn't a spontaneous rainy-Tuesday plan. You'll want to sort that ahead of the session you're aiming for rather than assuming you can just show up. Given the age range runs right up to 16, it reads as somewhere built for kids who've outgrown the local park but still want a space that's for them, supervised but not babysat.
