Lost Horizon Arts Centre & Bar
WHERE
Bristol
What it’s like
A late-opening arts venue and bar in St Jude's with live music, visual art shows and street food vendors.
This is a bar and performance space first, so don't picture soft play or a fenced-off kids' corner. What's on offer is live music across a fair spread of genres and digital or visual art performance events, the sort of thing you'd bring an older kid or teenager along to rather than a toddler. The whole place is on a single level with step-free access from the pavement right into the building, so if you're navigating a wheelchair or a buggy through Bristol on a Saturday afternoon, this one won't fight you.
Doors don't open early. Thursdays and Fridays it's 5pm to 1am, but Saturday and Sunday it opens at midday, which is really the only window that works if you've got children with you. Food comes from rotating street food vendors rather than a set kitchen menu, alongside a full drinks list of cocktails, mezcals and local craft beers, so this leans more toward a grown-up crowd even in daylight hours.
Booking is pushed hard here, and they're upfront that you should buy through their recommended ticket outlet rather than turning up on spec. Parking is the fiddly bit: nearest option is a five-minute walk at Colston Tower or Trenchard Street car parks, both reasonably priced, or metered street parking if you fancy the walk. If you need a carer's pass for a support worker, that has to be arranged by email before the event, not sorted on the door.
