What it’s like

A booked-in farm day of animal feeding, rodeo bull and reptile handling, with paintball or quads to add on.

This one's built around a farm visit you book ahead rather than turn up to on a whim. The basic admission gets you into the play areas plus a set of activities: bouncy castle, rodeo bull, reptile handling and some animal feeding, with pedal toys for the smaller ones to trundle about on. It suits the 3 to 11 bracket well, since there's enough gentle stuff for a three-year-old and enough daft stuff (rodeo bull, we're looking at you) to keep an eleven-year-old happy too.

Where it gets interesting is the add-ons. Target paintball, archery, junior quads, barrel rides, football golf and bubble football are all bookable on the day, subject to availability, so it's worth deciding in advance what your kids are actually going to want to queue for. Nerf wars turns up as a party option too, which tells you the sort of energy this place runs on.

Admission is £6 a person, and the activity package on top comes to £19.50 a child, which adds up fast for a family visit but does buy a proper afternoon rather than an hour of feeding chickens. Birthday parties run at the same £19.50 per child, two hours including food, and you'll need at least 8 children and a £60 deposit to lock it in. The party food is pizza or popcorn chicken and chips, and bubble football's an extra £2 for the over-eights if that's the activity you fancy.

The one real faff is booking. There's no online system. They're also closed for a family holiday, reopening on Monday 20 July, but open on most school and bank holidays otherwise. It's card only on site, so leave the cash at home.
