What it’s like
A dinner-and-show evening of Scottish song, dance and a four-course meal with haggis, running three hours.
This one's an evening out rather than an afternoon activity: you arrive at half six, dinner starts at quarter to seven, then the show itself runs from eight until half nine. Four courses come with the ticket, including haggis and cranachan and a drink, so nobody's sat there hungry watching other people eat before the performance starts.
The performance side is traditional Scottish song and dance, the sort of thing you'd want your kids to see once even if they spend half of it fidgeting through dinner. Three hours is a long stretch for a younger child, and there's nothing in what they list about an interval or a quieter spot to take a restless one, so this reads more like an evening for kids who can sit through a proper meal and a show without needing to run about.
At £89.96 for an adult ticket it's a proper night out price, not a casual one, and that's before you factor in getting a family there for a six thirty arrival on a school night. It runs nightly from April to October, and the rest of the year if there's enough demand, so outside that window you'd want to ask before assuming it's on.
There's no online booking listed, so you'd be phoning the booking office, which is open Monday to Friday, or ringing the out-of-hours number if you're pushed for time.
