What it’s like

A four-lane 25 metre pool, a separate teaching pool, and summer £2 swim and soft play sessions that make a wet afternoon cheap.

The pool is the main event: 25 metres, four lanes, plus a teaching pool alongside it, which is the one to aim for if you've got a child who's still clingy in water. The site also runs fun swimming sessions and swimming lessons that it says have won awards, so there's a route from splashing about to actually swimming lengths.

The summer deal is the bit that stands out. Family activities at £2, and the list covers soft play, badminton, swimming and pickleball, which means you can fill a rainy afternoon for the price of a couple of coffees. Booking isn't something the site sets up online.

For a birthday, they do children's parties under the line "fun without the fuss", which in a leisure centre usually means a pool session, a room and someone else clearing up. There's a café if you want to sit it out rather than get in, and the building is step-free with wheelchair access and accessible toilets, so buggies and wheelchairs both work.

Opening hours are long. Weekdays 06:30 to 22:00, weekends 08:00 to 19:00, bank holidays 07:00 to 20:00. For a younger child, a pool session plus a drink in the café is a solid morning; older ones who want to swim properly will get more out of it.

Plan your visit

What is there for children to do?

A 25 metre, four-lane pool and a separate teaching pool, plus fun swimming sessions and sports hall activities. In summer the centre runs £2 family activities including soft play, badminton, swimming and pickleball.

When is it open?

Weekdays 06:30 to 22:00, weekends 08:00 to 19:00, and bank holidays 07:00 to 20:00.

Do I need to book?

The centre doesn't list an online booking link, so it reads like a turn-up-and-pay setup. Ring ahead for the summer £2 activities, as those are the ones likely to fill.

Is the pool OK for a toddler?

There's a teaching pool separate from the main 25 metre pool, which is the calmer spot for a child who isn't confident in water. The centre also runs swimming lessons.

Can we get food there?

There's a café in the centre if you'd rather sit out the session than swim. Handy if you've got one child in the pool and one who's had enough.

Do they do birthday parties?

They do children's birthday parties, billed as "fun without the fuss". Get in touch with the centre directly to sort a date.
