What it’s like

Pick your own fruit and veg in the fields, plus a sunflower patch that's made for photos.

This is a proper pick your own set-up, so the day is basically wandering the fields with a punnet or a basket, filling it with whatever's ready. If picking isn't your thing that day, there's ready picked fruit and veg on hand too, so nobody's leaving empty-handed just because the queue for strawberries was too long. The sunflower patch is the bit worth saving for a sunny afternoon: the site is happy for you to take photos there as long as you're spending money on site, which feels like a fair trade.

Kids up to 16 need an adult with them at all times in the fields, which is worth knowing if you were planning on sending an older one off to pick solo while you sit with a coffee. The bakery runs longer hours in summer, 9am to 5pm from June to October, and shorter days either side of that in spring, autumn and winter. Pick your own itself has a last entry an hour before closing, so don't turn up at ten to five expecting a full basket.

Dogs are welcome around the site but have to stay off the pick your own fields, which makes sense once you picture a spaniel loose in the strawberries. There's also camping on site with a chemical waste point, toilet and fresh water, though no showers, and campfires are allowed for a fiver per stay if you fancy an overnight stop. Worth flagging that the log cabins, shepherds huts and camping pods are adults only from this season, so that side of things is for a grown-up getaway rather than a family camping trip.

Plan your visit

How much does it cost to pick your own?

The site doesn't give a set price list, it's likely you pay by weight or punnet at the till, same as most pick your own farms.

Do we need to book ahead?

There's no booking link, so it sounds like you can just turn up during opening hours.

Is it OK to bring a toddler?

Yes, ages run from babies up to 16, though anyone under 16 needs an adult with them in the fields at all times.

Can we bring the dog?

Dogs are allowed on site but have to stay off the pick your own fields themselves.

Can we stay overnight?

There's a certified camping site with a chemical waste point, toilet and fresh water, though no showers. Log cabins, shepherds huts and camping pods are also available from May to October, but that accommodation is adults only now.
