Cat & Fiddle Pick Your Own
WHERE
Christchurch
What it’s like
Wander the fields filling a basket with your own fruit, veg and pumpkins, then browse the farm shop and café.
The whole point here is getting your hands on the produce yourself. You walk out into the fields and pick fruit, vegetables and flowers, and when the season turns, it's pumpkins, with the farm laying on rides, treats and activities to go with them. There's no set list of what's ready when, so a summer visit and an autumn one will look completely different.
Once you're done picking, the farm shop is there for anything you didn't get to, and the on-site café does proper coffee and cold drinks if the picking's taken longer than planned. It's an easy one to stretch into a half day rather than a quick stop, especially once a pumpkin trolley gets involved.
Parking's free and there's plenty of it, which takes one thing off the list before you've even started. Hours shift through the week, with Saturdays the long day if you want to make a proper morning of it and Sundays wrapping up earlier at 4pm.
If you fancy making more of a trip out of it, camping is available at the farm in season, so a pick-your-own morning could turn into an overnight stay without much extra planning.
