SMUGGLERS COVE GOLF
ENTRY
from £6.50
WHERE
South Shields
What it’s like
Twelve holes of pirate-themed adventure golf with water features and a galleon, right by South Shields seafront.
The course is twelve holes and pirate-themed throughout, with water features and a galleon to putt around rather than plain old windmills. It's a nice bit of theming for what's essentially a round of crazy golf, and gives the kids something to point at between shots.
There's no age range given, but a twelve-hole round is short enough that it won't test anyone's patience, little or big. Prices are straightforward: £6.50 for a child or OAP, £7.50 for an adult, or £25 for a family of four, which works out cheaper than paying separately if there's two adults and two kids going round.
It's open daily from 10am, though the site notes it's weather permitting, so a round on a blustery North Sea day isn't guaranteed. Afterwards the Blue Marlin café does fish and chips and ice cream, which is about as seaside as it gets and saves you trekking off elsewhere for lunch.
