What it’s like

A lake to paddle across on a board or in a kayak, plus flat lakeside paths for a wander after.

The main draw here is the water itself. You can get out on the lake paddleboarding or kayaking, which is a proper change from the usual splash pad or paddling pool. It suits anyone who fancies being on the water rather than just next to it, and older kids who can already swim a bit will get the most out of standing up on a board for the first time.

If the paddling isn't for you, or you've got a buggy in tow, the lakeside walks are flat and easy enough to do at toddler pace. It's a nice way to fill the rest of a visit once you've had a go on the water, or a whole outing on its own if the kayaking is more of a spectator sport for the day.

There's no booking link listed for either activity, so it looks like something you can turn up and sort out on the day rather than plan weeks ahead. Worth going with a plan for wet clothes and towels, since paddleboarding and kayaking mean somebody is getting splashed at some point, whatever your skill level.

Need to know

Best for
Good for older kids confident in water; toddlers suit the lakeside walk instead
  • No booking link listed, so it looks like a turn-up activity rather than one you need to plan ahead for
  • Take spare clothes and towels if anyone is getting on the water
  • The lakeside walks work well as a standalone visit if the water sports aren't your thing

Plan your visit

What is there to actually do?

Paddleboarding, kayaking and lakeside walks are the three things on offer here.

Do we need to book ahead?

There is no booking link listed, so it seems to be a turn up and go sort of place.

Is it suitable for toddlers?

The lakeside walks are flat and easy for a buggy. The paddleboarding and kayaking are better suited to kids old enough to handle themselves on the water.

How long should we plan to stay?

That depends on whether you are just doing a walk or getting out on the water too. A paddle or kayak session plus a walk afterwards makes for a fuller visit than the walk alone.
