What it’s like
Kickboxing and Muay Thai classes for 2 to 15 year olds, with a free group taster class before you sign anything.
Classes here blend Western Boxing with Wado-Ryu Karate, plus Muay Thai. Little kids from two go into the children's sessions, and there's a separate class for 11 to 15s, so your eight-year-old isn't sparring with a teenager. Instructors split the training by age group and experience, which matters if yours has never thrown a punch. It's contact work, so expect some bumps.
The pricing is where you need to concentrate. A single pay-as-you-go class is £37.50, which is a lot for a first go, so the free group taster is the sensible way in. After that it's contract territory: rolling is £120 a month, six months drops it to £100, twelve months to £80. Blocks work out cheaper per class if you'd rather not commit, £175 for five or £300 for ten, but they expire after two and three months. Private coaching is £40 for a trial, and one-to-one and family sessions are on offer if your child gets on better that way.
Two extras to budget for. Rolling contracts and the five-class block need an equipment package, and kids have to move up to the standard package after a month, so the headline price isn't the whole story. Every time they pass a grading it's another £10. On the plus side, group classes stay small at up to 12 children, and there's a dedicated area for the under-fives.
Parties and team-building sessions can be hosted at the dojo, arranged by phone or email. Private classes run all day from 9am to 8pm. Book online for the taster.

How much does it cost?
Pay as you go is £37.50 a class. Contracts run £120 a month rolling, £100 on six months and £80 on twelve, with blocks of five at £175 and ten at £300.
Is there a trial?
The group class trial is free, which is the obvious way to start given the £37.50 drop-in price. A private trial class is £40.
What ages do you take?
Children's classes run from 2 to 10, and teenagers get their own sessions from 11 to 15.
Do we need to book?
Booking is required. You sort the trial online before turning up.
What should my child wear to the first class?
Loose comfortable clothing works. Gloves and boots are provided for the first session, and they ask you to arrive 10 minutes early with a bottle of water.
Will my child get hurt?
It's a contact sport, so knocks happen. The instructors are insured and the sessions are run in a controlled way with risks kept down.
Does my child need to be fit or experienced?
No. All fitness levels and experience are welcome and the instructors adjust the training, so beginners work at their own pace.
Are there any extra costs?
Two. Rolling contracts and the five-class block need an equipment package, and children have to upgrade to the standard package after a month. Gradings are £10 each time they move up.
How many children are in a class?
Group classes take up to 12 children. There's also a separate area for under-fives.
Can we do a birthday party there?
Birthday parties and team-building sessions can be hosted at the dojo. You contact them to arrange it.
