What it’s like
Take the wheel of your own narrowboat for a weekend, a week or a whole season, or gather a group of up to twelve for a day out on the water.
This is self-drive, not a guided trip. You take charge of the boat yourself, with hire ranging from small two-berth boats up to ten-berth ones, so it works whether it's a couple wanting a quiet weekend or a big family group needing space to spread out. Nobody needs experience to have a go, and the appeal here is the pace: canals don't rush, and neither do you.
If a few days on a boat is too big a commitment, the day boat option takes up to 12 people out for a single day between April and October. It's a good way to try narrowboating before you talk yourself into a week-long hire, and it works well for a birthday group or a get-together that wants something different from the usual.
Hire lengths stretch from two days right up to six months, which is a genuinely wide window and lets you treat this as anything from a weekend break to a proper slow-travel holiday.
