What it’s like

Weekly courses in watercolour painting, pottery, lino printing and more, running as six or seven week blocks for anyone aged four and up.

This is a courses-and-classes sort of place rather than a drop-in, so you're signing up for a run of weeks rather than a single visit. Watercolour painting is the one with a proper price tag, £75 for six weeks or £87.50 for seven, on either a Monday or Friday, and the choice between the two is really just about which day suits your week. There's also Create Together, a rotating programme of weaving, sculpture, mosaics, collage and drawing, and that one's listed as free, which for a six-week course is the kind of deal you don't say no to.

Beyond the headline courses there's a fair bit going on: Saturday pottery classes, lino printing and print-making, glass art, dressmaking for all levels, a crochet club and a community choir. Some of these read as more grown-up pursuits than others, but with the minimum age set at four, there's clearly scope for a parent and child to sit down together at a lino press or a pottery wheel rather than you dropping them off and coming back later.

Parking is free on-site, in the main school car park with an overflow if that fills, though it locks up at 8pm so don't let a Monday evening class overrun. The centre itself keeps long hours, open until 9pm on weekdays and 8:30am to 4:30pm on Saturdays, which gives you room to fit a course around work or school pickup. There's a café on site too, handy for the gap between a Saturday pottery session and whatever the rest of the day holds.

Plan your visit

How much does it cost?

Watercolour painting is £75 for a six-week course or £87.50 for seven weeks, depending on which day you pick. Create Together is listed as free.

Do we need to book?

There's no booking link listed, so you'd need to get in touch directly to secure a spot on a course.

What age is it suitable for?

The minimum age given is four, so it suits a young child sitting alongside an adult rather than being dropped off alone.

Is there parking?

Yes, free on-site parking in the main school car park with an overflow option. It closes at 8pm, so keep that in mind for evening sessions.

What courses run on Saturdays?

Pottery classes run on Saturdays, alongside the centre's Saturday opening hours of 8:30am to 4:30pm.

Is there food available?

There's a café on site for a drink or snack around your session.
