What it’s like
Adults-only art tuition in weekly 3-hour sessions over a 14-week term, from first sketch to a gallery-style show at the end.
This one's for the grown-ups: a 14-week course of weekly art lessons, three hours a time, either a morning or afternoon slot depending on what fits round your week. You start with sketching and drawing, then move through oil pastels, watercolour, acrylics and finally picture mounting, so by the end you've actually got a framed piece to show for it rather than just a folder of practice sheets.
Complete beginners are the main audience and the site's honest that the first module is built for people who've never picked up a brush. If you've done a foundation course before, you're not stuck redoing the basics either, you get different projects and teaching pitched at where you actually are. Class sizes are kept small on purpose so the tutor and assistant can get round everyone, which also means you do need to book ahead. They say the courses are nearly always oversubscribed, so this isn't one to leave until the week before term starts.
Miss a week and it's not the disaster it could be. There are video links for the lesson you missed and handouts to practice with at home, plus one-on-one catch-up help from the tutor. The term builds to an invitation-only gallery-style exhibition of everyone's work, which is a nice bit of pressure to actually finish your pictures rather than let them stall halfway through.

It's 14 weekly sessions of three hours each, finishing with an invitation-only gallery-style exhibition of the work you've made.
What will I actually learn to do?
You work through sketching and drawing, oil pastels, watercolour, acrylics and picture mounting, so you come out the other end able to finish and frame a piece properly.
