What it’s like

Free contemporary art and craft exhibitions in the centre of town, with talks and workshops thrown in.

This is a small contemporary gallery showing changing exhibitions of visual art and craft, the sort of space you can duck into for twenty minutes or properly linger in if something's caught your eye. There's no set trail round the rooms, so you wander at your own pace, which suits an older child who likes looking at things without being rushed along.

Alongside the exhibitions there are artist talks and workshops, which is where it gets more hands-on if that's what you're after. It's free to get in.

It's open Tuesday to Saturday, 11am to 5pm, so Sundays and Mondays are out. Parking's on-street on Castle Street or in the nearby paid car parks including Queen's Road, and neither is free, so factor a few coins in even though the gallery itself won't cost you anything.
