What it’s like

Eighteen holes of crazy golf outdoors, with a 100-foot rolling green as the hole everyone talks about after.

Eighteen holes here, and the one they'll bring up in the car afterwards is the 100-foot rolling green, a proper signature hole rather than the usual windmill gimmick. It's outdoors, no age limit at all, so a toddler can trail round with you and a fourteen-year-old can come back on their own without an adult in tow.

A round takes 45 minutes to an hour, which is about the right length before small legs start flagging and attention drifts. Groups are capped at six players, so if you're a bigger family party or a few families meeting up you'll be splitting into more than one group, which is a bit of a faff to organise on the day but keeps the course moving rather than queuing behind a group of ten.

Cost is £12 for an adult, £8 for a child, or £32 for a family of four, which is fair enough for the length of a session but does add up if you've got more than one child in tow. It's card only, no cash, so don't turn up expecting to pay with a fiver in your pocket. Food and drink stays in Bar & Cafe 19 rather than out on the course, so eat before you head out or plan on it after, not mid-round.

Parking's free and right opposite, the course is wheelchair accessible and carers go free, and it's open 8am to 8pm every day with last tee-off at 7pm, so an early evening round after work is just as doable as a weekend morning.
