What it’s like

Free classes and drop-in groups for expectant parents and new families, from pregnancy yoga to baby massage.

This one's for the pregnancy and early parenting stage rather than a day out for a toddler who can already walk to the fridge and back. The classes run from prenatal groups and birth education through to postnatal support once the baby's here, and the list is genuinely broad: pregnancy yoga, breastfeeding preparation, baby first aid, baby massage, and parent and baby yoga once you're both mobile again. There are dads to be workshops too, which is a nice touch if the pregnancy books on the shelf all seem to assume only one parent is reading them.

The drop in groups are free, which matters when you're already spending on nappies and not sleeping. Baby and toddler music sessions are in the mix as well, so it's not purely a pregnancy centre, it follows you through into those early months of trying to keep a small person entertained.

Getting there by public transport is straightforward and the building itself is wheelchair accessible with an accessible toilet and baby change, which you'll want given the audience. Parking is the one thing to plan around: street parking is metered Monday to Friday during business hours, it's free at weekends, and there's a private car park about three minutes' walk away on St Leonards Street if you'd rather not hunt for a space with a pram in one hand.
