What it’s like
A field full of giant inflatable slides and bouncy castles on an all day wristband, no booking needed.
This is a big open field turned over to giant inflatables for the day. The one they push hardest is AJP's Giant Slide, which comes with a sack to sit on, and there's a run of bouncy castles alongside it. Ten quid gets your child an all day wristband with unlimited use, and the adults watching get in free, which is the right way round for once.
Shoes come off for every ride, no exceptions, so factor in a bit of a scrum at the bottom of each slide while everyone re-laces. The site actually recommends long sleeves and long trousers to avoid friction burns, which tells you something about the speed of that big slide. Worth packing accordingly even on a warm day.
There's no booking, you just turn up and pay on arrival, which makes it an easy one to decide on the morning. That said, it's weather dependent. Strong winds close it altogether, and the call gets made about an hour before opening, so a phone check before you set off saves a wasted trip if the forecast's dodgy. Food on site runs to hot food, drinks and a trailer doing tea, coffee and candy floss, and parking's free though it depends on space on the day.
With ages 2 to 14 catered for, it's really a day out for the whole spread of primary school kids and younger secondary ones, though a two-year-old will need a steady hand on some of the bigger slides.
