What it’s like

Roped climbing on 9m walls, bouldering, a high ropes course and zipline, plus a kids' area with a slide for the younger ones.

Climbing here comes in layers. Little ones start on the bouldering walls with mats underneath, no harness needed, while anyone tall enough for a proper climb gets roped up on the 9m walls. There's a high ropes course and a zipline for the ones who've outgrown the easy stuff, and the kids area has its own slide for when small legs need a break from the walls. The site also lists bush craft sessions with fire, which is a nice change of pace from clipping into a harness all afternoon.

Ages 4 to 15 are catered for on the pricing, and the 4 to 6 bracket gets its own cheaper ticket at £7, same at peak or off-peak times. Off-peak is the better deal generally: weekday mornings before 2pm outside school holidays bring adult entry down to £9 instead of £14, and juniors drop from £10 to £9. If you're going regularly, the month passes work out sensible, especially the small family one at £80 for one adult and one child.

Shoes, harness and a chalk bag are all rental extras rather than included, so budget another £10 or so a head on top of entry if you haven't got your own kit. One thing to watch for on a Tuesday: the extension shuts from 6pm for a youth group session, so that's not the evening to plan a late climb with older kids.

Opening hours stretch to 10pm on weekdays, which makes it one of the few things open late enough for an after-school or after-work climb, though weekends close at 6pm same as bank holidays.

Plan your visit

How much does it cost?

Peak entry (weekday afternoons, weekends, school holidays) is £14 for adults, £12 concession, £10 for juniors aged 7 to 15, and £7 for kids aged 4 to 6. Off-peak weekday mornings before 2pm outside school holidays bring adult entry down to £9, with kids staying at £7.

Do we need to book ahead?

No, booking isn't required, you can just turn up.

What age can climb?

The pricing starts at age 4, with a separate cheaper ticket for the 4 to 6 age bracket and another for juniors aged 7 to 15.

Is climbing gear included in the price?

Shoes, harness and chalk bag are all rental extras. Shoes are £3.50, harness £4 and a chalk bag £3.

What's there for younger kids who aren't ready for the big walls?

There's a kids area with a slide and bouldering walls with mats, so smaller climbers aren't straight onto the 9m roped walls.

What are the opening hours?

Monday to Friday it's 10am to 10pm, and weekends and bank holidays it's 10am to 6pm.

Is there anything beyond climbing walls?

There's a high ropes course, a zipline, and bush craft sessions with fire on top of the bouldering and roped climbing.

Are there deals for regular visits?

There are 10 climb passes and month, six month and year passes, including family options like the small family month pass at £80 for one adult and one child.

Anything to avoid on a particular day?

The extension closes from 6pm on Tuesdays for a youth group session, so a late Tuesday climb might be affected.

What's the off-peak window?

Weekday mornings from 10am to 2pm, but only outside school holidays. During holidays the peak prices apply all day.

Is there a concession rate?

Concession pricing applies across peak entry, off-peak entry and all the pass options.
