What it’s like

A quid gets you into the animal park to feed alpacas, goats and pigs, with an indoor play area for when it rains.

The animal park is the whole point here, and at £1 a head it's about as cheap a day out as you'll find. Buy a bag of feed for £2 and you're straight in among alpacas, llamas, goats, donkeys, sheep and pigs, which for most kids is the bit that actually matters, not the ticket price.

There's more going on depending on when you turn up. In summer they run goat walking through the woods and a nature trail, so it's worth timing a visit for the warmer months if you can. Come autumn, pumpkin picking takes over, and the fishing ponds are open all year if you've got a patient kid who fancies sitting still for once, which, let's be honest, is rare.

If the weather turns, there's an indoor play area to fall back on, and dogs are welcome to come round with you. Parking's free on site, which takes the sting out of any other costs on the day.

It's a straightforward, low-cost farm visit rather than a big day-long attraction, and the pricing reflects that. You won't be there for hours and hours, but for a couple of quid you get animals up close, an outdoor trail in summer, and a plan B if it rains.
