What it’s like

Indoor karting with lap timing and Grand Prix heats, booked out exclusively for your group from age 8 up.

This is proper indoor karting, not a fairground ride. Junior karts start at age 8, but there's a catch worth knowing before you promise anyone a birthday treat: you need to be 135cm tall too, so a tall seven-year-old might get in before a small nine-year-old does. Once they're in, it's lap timing and the option of a full Grand Prix format with practice laps and heats, which is the bit that turns a session into an actual event rather than just going round in circles for twenty minutes.

Every booking gets exclusive use of the track, which sounds flashy but really just means you are not sharing your session with strangers who drive like they've stolen the kart. That exclusivity is baked into the price though. A Time Blitz starts at £25, and a straight 20 minute session is £28, climbing to £38 for 30 minutes. Adults have their own Sprint Grand Prix at £35 if you fancy racing your own kids and losing badly.

Booking has to be done in advance and there's a £10 per person deposit, so this is not a turn up on the day sort of place. Opening hours shift through the week, tighter on Tuesday to Thursday afternoons and evenings, longer on Saturdays from 10am. It is closed on Mondays and over a handful of specific dates including Easter Sunday and the 11th to 13th of July, so check your calendar rather than just your diary if you are booking around a birthday.

For anyone in a wheelchair, there's an adult kart fitted with hand controls for steering, accelerating and braking, though that one has its own minimum age of 16. The venue has wheelchair access to the building itself, and there are toilets and indoor seating for anyone watching rather than racing.

The Time Blitz is the one they point youth groups towards, since it's the cheapest option and doesn't need a minimum number of drivers.
