What it’s like

Proper RYA powerboat courses and own-boat tuition in Hull, aimed at adults who want a real qualification, not a kids' activity.

This one's for the grown-ups. There's no children's activity here, it's RYA powerboat training and marine tuition run for adults who want a recognised qualification or need help handling their own boat with confidence.

The core course is the RYA Powerboat Level 1, which you can do as a single day for £180 or spread over two days if you're in a small group, with three-person bookings from £300. If you've already got the basics, Level 2 is a one-day course at £300. There's also Own Boat Tuition by the hour, starting at £150, or a half-day session with a four-hour minimum at £200, which is probably the better value if you want more than a quick top-up of skills.

For anyone planning to take a boat further afield, the Own Boat ICC Preparation runs over five days from £450, and Assisted Passages & Planning is charged hourly from £250, which isn't cheap but makes sense if you're prepping for a specific trip and want someone alongside you. Advanced Pilotage is a one-day course at £105, or £150 if you want it run as a small group.

There's a genuine spread of pricing here depending on group size and instructor rate, so it pays to work out which tier you actually need before you book. There's no booking link listed.
