What it’s like

Kids measure, mix and bake a full savoury and sweet menu from scratch to take home, using real ingredients and proper kitchen kit.

This is proper cooking, not a fairy cake and glitter session. Kids get real ingredients and real equipment, and they work through a full menu of savoury and sweet dishes in one sitting, measuring and counting as they go and following instructions rather than just watching someone else do it. Everything made gets taken home, so you get dinner sorted and a small chef feeling rather pleased with themselves.

Saturday Kitchen sessions run for ages 3 and up at £23.95, and there are Tuesday or Friday Home Ed classes at £25.50 if term-time weekdays suit you better. Booking's needed either way, and with sessions running across a working week from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday, there's a fair bit of choice on timing.

Birthday parties are bespoke rather than off-the-shelf: aprons, ingredients and recipes are all sorted for you, dietary requirements are catered for, and party guests take home a copy of the Make, Bake, Celebrate recipe book as part of the package. Group bookings and school visits run too.

Ages stretch from 1 right up to 18, though the Saturday sessions themselves are pitched at 3 and over, which is about right given knives and hot ovens are involved. A younger sibling could probably tag along for a party but the structured classes are really built for kids old enough to follow a recipe and use the equipment properly.
