Mojo Active Ltd
WHERE
Bristol
What it’s like
A working activity centre near the M4/M5 where kids take on high ropes, axe throwing, kayaking and a proper assault course.
This isn't a soft play with a slide bolted on. Mojo Active runs 80 acres of fields and woodland out at Almondsbury as a proper outdoor centre, with a 15-stage high ropes course, a 400 metre military-style assault course, and things you don't see everywhere, like axe throwing and coasteering. Archery, archery tag, zorb football, kayaking and canoeing all sit alongside the climbing wall and tree climbing, so a visit tends to be built around picking two or three activities rather than wandering round looking at things.
Because it's an instructor-led setup rather than a turn-up-and-play park, expect a session that's organised around you, not a free-for-all. Every instructor is DBS checked, there's a first-aider on site whenever anything's running, and staff go through a proper induction covering safety and child safeguarding. That's the reassuring bit for a parent handing a kid over to a rope course fifteen stages deep.
Getting there is easy if you're driving, with the site sat just five minutes from the M4/M5 interchange and two minutes off J17 on the M5, which makes it a realistic option even if you're coming from further out. Kayaking, canoeing and coasteering mean some of you will end up wet, so factor that into what everyone's wearing on the day.
It also does birthday parties, group bookings and school visits, so it's clearly set up for more than just families turning up on a Saturday. If you've got a child who's into a physical challenge rather than a gentle wander, the assault course and high ropes are the two that'll get talked about on the way home.

Plan your visit
What can kids actually do there?
High ropes across 15 stages, a 400 metre assault course, archery, archery tag, axe throwing, climbing, zorb football, kayaking, canoeing and coasteering. It's built around instructor-led activities rather than free play.
Is it safe for kids to be doing things like axe throwing and high ropes?
All instructors are DBS checked and there's a qualified first-aider on site whenever activities are running. Staff go through a training induction covering safety and safeguarding, and there are risk assessments for every activity.
Where is it and is it easy to get to?
It's in Almondsbury, on 80 acres of private fields and woodland. Five minutes from the M4/M5 interchange or two minutes from J17 on the M5.
Do you need to book, or can you just turn up?
Given the instructor-led setup, this reads like a book-ahead centre rather than a drop-in one, particularly for the water activities and higher ropes course.
Can we do birthday parties or school trips here?
Yes, birthday parties are available, and the centre also takes group bookings and school visits.
