What it’s like

A frame-and-slides play session in Sheffield, sold in 2.5 hour blocks so you actually get your money's worth.

This one's built around a big frame and slides, and with a 2.5 hour session you're not clock-watching the way you do at some soft play places where an hour disappears in queuing for socks. Term time weekdays split into a morning and afternoon slot with a break in between, Wednesdays are closed altogether, and weekends run three sessions a day. School holidays and bank holidays just open 9.30 to 6, which is the easier option if you can go then.

Pricing is by age band: £9.95 for four and up, £7.45 for one to threes, and £2 if an adult wants to go in too rather than just perch on the sidelines. That's not pocket change for a family session, but the 2.5 hours does stretch a visit out properly rather than feeling like you're paying for forty minutes of play and an hour of faffing with shoes.

Walk-ins are welcome if there's space, though they do recommend booking ahead, which is the sensible move for a weekend slot given there are only three sessions to fit everyone into. Parking's free and you don't need to bother with registration numbers, which is one less thing to think about on the way in.

Parties run from £12.99 a child with a minimum of 10 kids, food built into the package, and slots at 10, 1 or 4 o'clock. There's a weekday special too: £129.99 gets you 10 kids and a pizza party on a Monday, Tuesday or Thursday during term time, with £12.99 for each extra child after that.
