What it’s like
Four indoor rinks and a pool table in Hull, with sessions you book by phone rather than turning up on spec.
This is flat green bowling indoors, four rinks of it, plus a pool table for whoever's waiting their turn. It's a quieter, more old-school setup than a ten-pin alley, so it suits a slower afternoon rather than a birthday rush of neon and arcade noise.
The pricing is refreshingly simple: £6 a session if you're not a member, £5 if you are, and shoes or bowls hire is 50p each if you haven't got your own. Nobody's going to wince at that bill. The tea and coffee bar covers snacks and soft drinks.
Opening hours shift with the seasons, which catches people out. Winter, September through April, you've got Monday to Friday, 10am to 10pm, plenty of room to fit a session around school pickup or an evening game. Summer, May to August, it's Thursday only, 10am to 6pm, so if you're thinking of a July visit you've really only got the one day a week to work with.
Booking is required and there's no online system, you phone up to check availability and book a session. It's a small extra faff compared with just turning up, but it also means you're not going to arrive and find every rink taken.
