What it’s like
Sensory room sessions and dance, movement and music activities for disabled children in Hull.
This one's built around a proper sensory room, kitted out with sensory equipment and fully wheelchair accessible, mobile hoist included. That last bit matters more than it sounds like it should. Plenty of places say they're accessible; this one's actually set up for a wheelchair user to get in and use the hoist, not just squeeze through a doorway.
Alongside the sensory room there are Sensory Dance, Movement & Music sessions, plus something called Imagination Station aimed at SEND children aged 12 and under. The general thread running through all of it is inclusive activities for disabled children, so it's less a soft play with a sensory add-on and more a place built around that need first.
One thing to flag: the venue's in the middle of moving, so from October onwards activities are being run across different venues rather than one fixed base. That's a faff if you like knowing exactly where you're going in advance, but it doesn't change what's on offer, just where you turn up for it.
Booking happens through their website ahead of time rather than turning up on spec, which suits sensory sessions fine since you're not fighting a queue at the door.

Plan your visit
Do we need to book?
Book ahead through their website rather than just showing up. It's the sort of session where a fixed number of spaces makes sense anyway.
Is it wheelchair accessible?
Fully, and there's a mobile hoist in the sensory room too. That's not always a given at places calling themselves accessible.
Where do we actually go?
From October the activities are running across different venues rather than one site, so it's worth getting the specific location when you book rather than assuming it's the same spot each time.
What's Imagination Station?
It's aimed at SEND children aged 12 and under, sitting alongside the sensory room and the dance, movement and music sessions as one of the regular activities.
