WHERE

Liverpool

What it’s like

A cruise along the Mersey past the Liver Buildings, Albert Dock and Gormley's statues, with a stop at New Brighton for refreshments.

You get on the water and head out along the Mersey, taking in the Liverpool Waterfront, the Liver Buildings and Albert Dock from a completely different angle than you'd get on the promenade. Antony Gormley's statues show up along the way too, and on a clear day you can see across to North Wales, which is the sort of view worth saving your phone battery for.

The boat drops anchor at New Brighton, where refreshments are supplied, so it's not just a there-and-back trip. It's a proper break in the middle rather than a photo stop.

Worth knowing before you book: the Mersey stretch depends on weather and tide. If conditions are against you, the cruise switches to Liverpool's docks instead, which is a fair trade-off but not quite the same view, so don't go in expecting the open river guaranteed.

Beyond the standard cruise, the boat gets booked out for birthdays, anniversaries, and stag and hen parties, which suggests it copes well with a group that wants the day to be a bit of an occasion rather than just a sightseeing trip.

Need to know

Parties
Cruises available for birthdays, anniversaries, stag and hen parties
  • Refreshments are provided at the New Brighton stop, so you're not just watching the water go by.
  • Tide and weather call the shots on whether you get the river or the docks, so keep that in mind when picking a date.
  • There's on-site food and toilets, which matters more than it sounds on a longer cruise.

Plan your visit

Do we need to book?

There's a booking link, so it's not a turn-up-and-go trip. Get it sorted ahead of your date.

What happens if the weather's bad?

The cruise moves into Liverpool's docks instead of the open Mersey. You still get a trip out, just not the river and coastal views.

What will we actually see?

The Liverpool Waterfront, the Liver Buildings, Albert Dock, Gormley's statues along the water, and North Wales in the distance on a clear day. There's also a stop at New Brighton with refreshments.

Can you book it for a birthday or a stag do?

Yes, the cruises are set up for birthdays, anniversaries, and stag and hen parties.
