What it’s like
Archery, axe throwing, ropes courses and raft building on one site for kids who want to try the lot in a day.
This is a proper outdoor activity list, not a play area with a climbing wall bolted on. Kids can have a go at archery, axe throwing and body zorbing, then move onto high and low ropes or the Learn The Ropes course if they want something that tests their nerve a bit more. There's bushcraft and raft building too, so it's not all about height and speed, some of it is patience and getting your hands dirty.
The site groups a fair bit of this under named sessions, Rock Rookies and Wild Climbers Club for the climbing-focused kids, plus a Half Day Kids Climbing Camp and a 3 Day Kids Adventure Camp for anyone who wants more than a single afternoon of it. That camp option is worth clocking if you're after childcare over a school holiday rather than just a Saturday morning out, three days is a proper commitment for a child who's never tried ropes before.
Minimum age is 5, which fits given some of this is genuine height and grip work, not toddler stuff. Canoeing and kayaking round out the list if the group fancies getting on the water as well as up in the air.
Need to know
- Best for
- 5 and up, with camps for kids who want more than one day
- Minimum age is 5 across the site's activities
- The 3 Day Adventure Camp is a bigger commitment than a single session, good for holiday cover
- Rock Rookies and Wild Climbers Club are separate from the general climbing sessions
- Raft building and canoeing mean it's not purely a height-based day out
Plan your visit
What's the minimum age?
Five. Fair enough given the ropes and climbing involve real height and grip strength.
What can kids actually do there?
Archery, axe throwing, body zorbing, high and low ropes, bushcraft, raft building, canoeing and kayaking, plus dedicated climbing sessions like Rock Rookies and Wild Climbers Club.
Is there an option for more than one day?
There's a 3 Day Kids Adventure Camp and a Half Day Kids Climbing Camp if a single session isn't enough.
Do you need to book ahead?
Given the range of named sessions and camps, it's the kind of activity list where you'd want a slot sorted rather than turning up on spec.
Is this good for a nervous first-timer?
The Learn The Ropes course sounds like the entry point before the higher stuff, so a first-timer isn't thrown straight onto the big course.
