What it’s like

This is an over-16s life drawing studio in Leeds, running untutored classes, courses and monthly all-day sessions, not a kids' activity.

This one's for the 16-plus crowd, not a family activity, so if you're after something for younger children this isn't it. Leeds Drawing Club runs untutored life drawing on Mondays and Wednesdays, plus a monthly All Day Draw and separate tutored courses for anyone wanting proper guidance rather than just an easel and a model.

The session structure is worth knowing before you go. Evening and daytime classes run through a few short poses, a tea and biscuits break, then a longer 40 minute pose to finish. The All Day Draw is a bigger commitment, with two 2 hour single poses either side of a lunch break, so it suits someone who wants to really sink into one drawing rather than warm up on quick sketches.

Materials are included in the price, paper, charcoal, pencils, easels and boards all provided, and you can bring your own kit too if you prefer working with your own tools. Beginners are explicitly welcome, both to the weekly untutored classes and to a dedicated beginners course that runs across the year. Parking is free, with two car parks within the Flexspace site and the studio itself in the lower car park off Argie Road.

One thing to flag: sessions are non-refundable and can't be moved to another date if your plans change, which is a bit unforgiving if life gets in the way. Worth being sure of your diary before you book.
