What it’s like

A bowling, pool and karaoke night out for teens, though it's over 18s only after 7pm.

This one's for the teenagers rather than the little ones. Lane7 Manchester is built around bowling, but that's genuinely the least of it once you look at the list: pool, ping pong, augmented darts, mini golf, shuffleboard, shooting pods, karaoke rooms, arcade machines and beer pong all sit under one roof. If you've got a fourteen-year-old who thinks ten-pin bowling is a bit tame, the shooting pods or the augmented darts are the bit they'll want to save for last.

The catch, and it's a proper one, is the age rule. Under 14s aren't allowed at all, and once it hits 7pm the whole place goes over 18s only, so a family evening has a hard stop. That makes this more of a daytime or early-evening outing with a group of teens than a weekend family trip, and any under-18s there do need an adult keeping an eye on them throughout.

Money-wise, bowling alone starts at £10.50 a head, but the off-peak combo deals make more sense if you're staying a while: £13 gets you bowling plus a second game, up to £21 for bowling and three others. Karaoke runs in 55-minute slots, one room for up to 8 and a bigger one for up to 12, which is handy if the group splits between bowling one minute and singing badly the next.

Walk-ins are fine but they'd rather you booked ahead, especially for bigger groups, and it's worth knowing that whatever you book is non-refundable if plans change. Opening hours stretch late on Fridays and Saturdays, running to 1am, with an earlier finish most other nights.

Plan your visit

What age is this suitable for?

Under 14s aren't allowed in at all, and anyone under 18 needs an adult with them the whole time. After 7pm it switches to over 18s only, so this really works best as a teen or adult outing.

How much does it cost?

Bowling on its own is £10.50 a person. The off-peak combos are better value if you're stopping for a while, £13 for two games up to £21 for bowling plus three others.

Do we need to book ahead?

Walk-ups are welcome but booking is recommended if you don't want to be turned away. Big groups should book well in advance.

What is there to do besides bowling?

Pool, ping pong, augmented darts, mini golf, shuffleboard, shooting pods, karaoke and arcade games. Bowling's really just the starting point.

How does the karaoke work?

There are two rooms, one for up to 8 people and a bigger one for up to 12. Slots run for 55 minutes and you book them separately.

What are the opening hours?

Monday to Thursday it's 3pm to midnight. Friday and Saturday it opens at 11am and runs to 1am, Sunday 11am to midnight, and it opens earlier at 11am during school holidays and bank holidays.

Can I cancel or change a booking?

Bookings are non-refundable, so think carefully before you pay. You can change the time via your account, subject to availability, but only before your original arrival slot.

Can we bring a big group?

Each bowling lane holds up to 7 people and you can spread a bigger group across several lanes at once.

Is there food?

There's on-site food and a restaurant, and they're set up to be allergy aware if anyone in your group needs that.
