What it’s like
Roped climbing, bouldering and abseiling on real walls, with sessions and parties for climbers aged six and up.
This is a proper climbing centre, not a soft play with a wall bolted on. Kids get stuck into roped climbing, bouldering, abseiling and autobelay climbing, plus a slackline if their balance is up to it. Under-sixes can come along for £5 but the whatKidsDo list here is really built for the six-plus crowd, and a first-timer will get more out of it than a toddler will.
If it's someone's first go, the Climbing Taster Session is the sensible start, £22 for 60 minutes or £30 for 90, and there's an Intro to Climbing package (two sessions, £44 per person for two people) if they want to come back and build on it properly. Once they're hooked, membership drops the price of every visit, junior climbs go from £10 down to £8, and a lifetime membership is £25 if you think you'll be back often enough to make it pay.
Birthday parties run as Gold (60 minutes climbing, from £13 a child) or Platinum (90 minutes climbing plus an hour and a half in the party room, from £18 a child), both needing a minimum of six kids. There's a café on site for the waiting adults, which is one small mercy if you're not climbing yourself.
Opening hours are evening-heavy in the week, 4:30pm to 10pm Monday to Thursday and a shorter 4:30pm to 8pm on Fridays, with proper daytime hours only at the weekend, 10am to 6pm. You don't need to book generally, but if you want a climb slot before 4pm on a Tuesday to Friday you can book ahead, and last entry is 90 minutes before closing, so don't turn up at quarter to on a Friday expecting a full session.
